SQL Server 7 Very Slow / ODBC Call Failing

I use Access 97 for the front end with SQL server 7 holding the data. For some reason when I come in in the morning accessing the data from sql server is painfully slow, yet after an hour or two the speed picks up. When I come in the following day, I get exactly the same thing. I have no idea why this is happening. Can anybody give me any ideas. I have very basic knowledge of sql server.....

ps. I have about 15-20 users
