We had a problem after install SP3 for SQL server 2008 from SP1. Install seemed to go ok but then got messgae when starting sql up after upgrade about master db being corrupt. Was about to reun repair of master and got server up. Unfortuanatley all databases were not there but was able to reattach production databases but msdb was not up to date and all jobs and dts were not there. Tried restoring msdb but because that backup was done on sp1, it would not work. A co-worker found a way to restore msdb by changing a bit somewhere and most things looked good but have a problem with DBMail. Found the following which is what is happening to us because looks like new sp's in msdb are not in sync with new binaries. Wondering if if will let us reapply sp3 because I know in other instances, when tried to reapply sp's, it might think it's already applied so will not let us? Does anyone know if we can do this or another workaround? I had restored our msdb to another server with same sp1 as original back so thinking maybe if I could now apply sp3 to that server then maybe back that msdb up and restore that to original server if possible? Thanks, Joe
