Has anyone been able to get SQL Server 2005 up and running in Vista?

I just started to try, and I can't seem to connect to my database with SSMS. My local database doesn't show up in any dialog (only the Integration Services service does), though the SQL Server Configuration Utility shows that the database server is running fine.

Have not tried it but I belive it is only supported with SP2 installed on SQL Server

I have the SP2 CTP installed is the thing.

Installation Requirements
All editions of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2) can be run on Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1) or the Beta 2 release of Windows Server "Longhorn." This configuration is not supported in production environments. We recommend that you run SQL Server 2005 SP2, when it becomes available, on Windows Vista and Windows Server "Longhorn" only in test environments. You must first install the full release version of SQL Server 2005 before you can apply SP2.

My understanding of the links is that ... you can only use the 2005 Express Edition w/SP1 on Vista. You need to wait until the RELEASE version of 2005 SP2 is available for the other versions to work with Vista. 2005 SP2 CTP is not supported on Vista.

I've got SQL Managment Studio installed as well as SQL Express working with no problems.

Make sure that you allow access to SQL through the firewall.
