I'm installing SQL 2005 on XP Pro.
It fails as it cannot find ASPNET account.

I've checked the user accounts and in fact
the ASPNET account isn't there.

XP Pro has just been installed on this
machine.

Could anyone tell me how does the ASPNET account
get created.

Thanks.

Thanks but the installation
of SQL Server 2005 fails because it
cannot find ASPNET account.

I would like to know how the ASPNET
account gets first created. May be I
need to install a component which
automatically creates the ASPNET
account.

ASP.NET is created with microsoft.net framework. Maybe you need to re-install .net framework

ASP.NET is a different installation as Paul mentioned. You need to run the aspnet_regiis.exe located in the framework folder under the specific version you want installed.

example for 2.0 would be a path of
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727

During the installation of 2005 you can specify not to do the sections required for this though if you do not want the setup to look at IIS etc.. I'm not sure off teh top of my head which settings details those are though. You'll have to read the documentation that comes with the setup
