We used to have an application that required Full Text indexing, but it's gone now. I'm trying to eradicate all traces of it. It seems to keep popping up when I want to do things with back up and restore to alternate servers, etc. What do I remove so that it's totally gone and I can delete the old full text index directories and files.

Which version of SQL Server are you using?

MCP SQL Server 2000, MCTS SQL Server 2005, MCTS SQL Server 2008 (DBD, DBA)

SQL Server 2005 SP2 on Windows Server 2003. For SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008 I can do it through Programs and Features Control Panel. That doesn't seem to be available on the SQL2005/Server2003 platform.

To remove the index catalog, in SSMS expand Database->Storage->Full Text Catalogs. Once there right-click the one you would like to remove and delete it.
