Hi all

I need to install ArcServe 12 on a SQL server 2005 machine. However, ArcServe 12 uses SQL server for it's backend db. So in order to install ArcServe I would also have to install SQL Server Express 2005 also. Are there any issues with having 2 versions of SQL server on the same machine ? Would I end up with an unsupported configuration ?

I know that ArcServe can use an instance of SQL Server instead of installing the Express version - but I don't want to do this as the backup & SQL db's will be managed by different teams from different companies

any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes you can do this. Assuming that your SQL Server is installed as the default instance, you'll need to install SQL Express as a named instance.

Both SQL Express and SQL Server use the exact same engine so you won't have any problems.
