I am new to SQL server, I was wondering if anyone can tell me. How can I test if my installation of SQL Server 2000 Standard is running correctly?

thanks in advance.

Hi,
just look into the SQL-Server Enterprise Manager and clicking down to your Server. On the left side you got the icons for "SQL-Servers" - "SQL-SErver Group" - "local"
If you click down to that local-Icon you see a tag for "Databases". If you have installed an own database the name will be in there, if not only the system-DB's are listed. And the arrow on the icon for "local" will be green if the DB is up and running.
