Hi everyone,
I currently have sql server 7 enterprise manager installed on my machine and a sql server 7 database that I need to keep when I update to SQL Server 2000 enterprise manager. I'm concerned that I'll lose my SQL Server 7 database when I do this. What are the important considerations here?

Any advice is most appreciated.

I'm unclear as to what you mean. Is the SQL 7 database on the server or the local PC? Are you planning to upgrade the database to SQL 2000? Are you asking if the database will be upgraded without losing data when you upgrade to SQL 2000? Or will do you intend to run SLQ 7 and SQL 2000?

Please clarify. If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874 and faq183-3179.

Terry,
thanks for your reply. let me explain myself...
1. Yes the SQL 7 database is on the local PC which is acting as the server as well.
2. I just want to keep the SQL server 7 DB and be able to view it through sql2k enterprise manager once I upgrade.
3. I don't intend to run SQL7 and SQL2000, but perhaps that's what I need to do, here?

Thanks for your time terry,

frudd

Worth noting, probably worth keeping SQL7 BOL if you install the 2k client tools.
