Hi All,
I am a newbie to this forum, so please be patient. I am trying to work out a problem with my SQL Server 2000 Personal Edition installation. The OS is Windows 2000 Professional SP2, on a laptop with 512MB of RAM, plenty of HD space and ample processor speed. I am having trouble navigating in the consoles of all modules of the product. Just to open Enterprise Manager and drill down to the default databases takes minutes+. The hard drive thrashes. I havent touched any default install settings for memory management in SQL. I'm not even getting to databases yet. I have sifted through other forum questions and did the basics: defrag, monitored performance, reinstalled, checked MS TechNet, etc. Can someone please give me suggestions. I need to begin some work on some databases and havent gone past first base. Any, and of course, all suggestions are welcome.
Thank you in advance,
LFrazier
