I need an advise, I was recommended as part of the maintenance plan to schedule the SQL Server 2000 to reboot every night, (shoutdown and restart) this will provide me with better preformance. Please what would be the best way for my the server performance. Thanks in advance.

Regards,

James

There is no need to reboot a SQL Server nightly.

All this is going for your SQL Server is clearing out it's procedure cache and data cache and forcing you to reload it.

If doing this is speeding things up you need to look at the system and see what's going on. It may be time for a hardware upgrade or some code rewriting.
