I have a Dell Poweredge 2450 rack mounted with dual 866 processors and 1GB of RAM. It is running MS SQL Server 2000 and is in production as I type. I am trying to run nightly backups, but I have discovered that the jobs will start correctly, and never stop running. THey never complete, and never give me any indication that they are actually doing anything. I don't believe this is any type of known issue, as I have another identical server running in production and it's jobs are running fine. I am asking for any suggestions as to why this may be occurring. I have checked the SQL Server Agent config and login credentials, as well as the SQL user it is running under. I have found no issues with these items. I wondered if it was possible that a dll had gotten corrupted or if there's something else that I may be missing. Please help..........

I am doing full backups and they are going to the local hard disk for the network tape device to come by and pick up later. We have found this to be much more efficient than trying to push the backup across the network directly.
