Hello all,
I have a SQL Server 2000 database that I'm trying to link with an Oracle 8.1.7 database. Since I'm running Win2k3, I know that I need to use the 9.2 oracle client. After an afternoon of pulling my hair out, i finally got the client installed. the problem that I'm having is with trying to link the oracle database. I am using the enterprise manager to create the link. I tested the client with an ODBC connection and everything is fine. When I create the link, I get an error: 7302. What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

What are the settings that you are passing? Have you setup the a connection to the Oracle database in the Oracle client and the tnsnames.ora file?

Denny,
Thx for the reply. I have setup the tnsnames.ora file and have setup the connection as I have with the an 8.1.7 client. I believe it may have to do with the registry settings for the dlls files but I'm not sure which ones I need to put into the registry setting. In ver. 8.1.7 client, I had to setup the correct dlls in the registry before it would work. This is the first time I'm setting up a 9.2 client. I keep getting a 7302 error. I've been working on this for the past week and cannot find any info on this issue. Thanks again for the reply.

I'm not farmiler with the 9.2 client it self. I assume that it should work basically the same way as the 8.1.7 client.

What's the exact wording that you are getting for the 7302 error?

You might also want to ask in one of the Oracle forums. Someone there will probably have more knoweldge of the Oracle client than anyone here.
