Has anyone tried to do the above?

I have a windows 2003 64 bit Itanium box running SQL Server 2000 SP4. I need to create a linked server (for reporting services reasons) to a windows 2003 32 bit Intel box.

I have downloaded the MSDASQL 64 bit installer - I can now choose the OLE DB Provider for ODBC drivers, but when I configure it for the MySQL driver I have set up, MSDASQL gives me an "unknown error".

I think that as this is a native 64 bit SQL server install, then it cannot see the 32 bit MySQL driver. There doesn't appear to be a IA64 Windows driver available.

Has anyone come across this - and, more importantly, have they solved it?

Correct, the IA 64bit SQL will not be able to see the 32bit MySQL Driver. You would have to get an IA 64bit MySQL Driver. See if you can download the source and compile it under IA 64bit, unless you can find an IA 64bit driver somewhere.
