We will soon be upgrading our SQL server to SQL Server 2005, and I will be installing this on my machine with usiness Intelligence Development Studio and using this to write reports.

I have never used this before and was looking for some books on this, and couldn't see any. I am not sure if I need to get an SQL book or a Visual Studio book.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks

For Reporting Services, I can highly recommend the Hitckhiker's Guide - Blackburn & Vaughn

Rgds, Geoff

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

Thanks Geoff, I have found their book 'Hitchhiker's Guide to SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services' is this what you mean, and do you think it would matter that I would be using v 2005?

Thanks

It is a good book to start with. Obviously won't have the 2005 updates but is a very good intro on how to use the basics in RS (which are the same for 2000 and 2005)

Is 2000 the most recent book they've written on the subject? According to Amazon, they have a title out called "Hitchhiker's Guide to Visual Studio and SQL Server: Best Practice Architectures and Examples (7th Edition)". I've found a Google books version of the 2000 title you mentioned, pretty nice but some of the screens are quite different. I'm working with VS 2005, SQL Server 2005.

What's Professional SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services like? anyone know?
