Hello folks

I cant connect to SQL 2k with enterprise mngr. I get "..connection failed or access is denied". Tried modifying properties to use different accounts but no luck. Client app still works. Tried deleting registration but now it wont let me create a new one, gives same error. Also tried both windows and sql authentication. Server is 2k3 standard (standalone) no AD.

Any info is much appreciated.

Thanks

1. Do you have an account on SQL Server?
2. What type of authentication is it set to use?

This is going to sound stupid but try rebooting the workstation. Sometimes that can kick EM into gear.

Yes I do have an sql account and I tried using that as well as int. windows authenti... The server has been rebooted several times as well.. Thanks

- Can you connect through Query Analyzer?
- Can you ping the server?

Thanks for all your responses. It turns out I had a host file on the server pointing to a list of old IP's. Figured that out after uninstalling everything. Now I'm trying to restore the databases and that's not being any walk in the park.
