I am trying to learn SQL for work. They are using oracle sql. I have downloaded sql developer for free at home and I want to be able to join or connect to a dummy database to practice and learn sql. Does anyone know where a source is for a database?

I have some access files that i am sending to my house to use but would prefer an actual database.
thanks

Sounds like you have an RDBMS mixed bag - lol.

What I mean, if I am reading your post correctly, is that you work is running Oracle, you have SQL Server at the house and you have ancillary file from an Access DB.

What exactly are you shooting for?

Oracle uses PL\SQL as it coding langage, SQL Server uses TSQL as its language and Access has much the same language as SQL Server.

If you are using SQL Server to teach yourself TSQL, then you can download the Adventure Works DBs.

I am not sure of a download for sample Oracle DBs.

Thanks

Yes at work they have an oracle database. I use Crystal Reports XI but everyone else writes reports in SQL. They do not know CR very well and I do not know SQL very well. I want to close the gap.

What exactly I am shooting for; I am not trying to connect home with work in any way. I only want to be able to practice at home using similar type sql and work environment.

I was looking at my “Oracle SQL Developer” and yes it is set on PL\SQL. I want to learn this in my spare time at home. However, if at all possible I do not want to use Access files to practice with.

I hope this helps.
Thanks

OK ... so what I am reading is that you want to learn PL\SQL not SQL Server TSQL.

You may want to look in the RDBMS category list and post this question to one of the Oracle groups that meet your platform (that being 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g or other).

Thanks
