With Oracle 8i's SQL Plus on Sun Solaris, is it possible to use the
Code:
DESCRIBE
command to list all database objects (i.e., tables, stored procedures, etc.) as opposed to individual table or procedure?

DESCRIBE will work at the object level. If you need to know other stuff, you can get a full list of your objects from user_objects, and there are a whole raft of views which will help you navigate your way around them. Selecting from the table dict will also give you a good idea of what else you can access.

In short, the better your SQL, the easier it all gets....
