sql master restore issue

I have restored databases from another server including master which I restored last. Now after stopping sql service I cannot restart it because the master db thinks the database files are in a different location -- is there a way to get around this or will I need to uninstall sql and reinstall then restore master first and then the other db's? Not sure how to get around this one...

Kind os a predicament here. master db contains the information concerning SQL Server system tables/extended SP's and of course keeps track of who is where on the disk. This is initialized during start up of SQL Server. Since it is impossible to get SQL up and running, the only option is to uninstall and re-install and then attach the DB's and see how that goes.

Good Luck,
SQLRickster.

The SQL Server is probally having problems becuase it can't find the system databases. The User databases being in the wrong place, should still let the server startup. Check the errorlog, it will probally tell you that it can't find msdb or model. You can probally just move the msdb and model to the folder listed in the errorlog then the server should start.
