We have Microsoft Dynamics and we want to send alerts from this system. I want to setup SQL Mail but I'm getting error 17930. Our mail system is Lotus Notes so Outlook is only running local and I've already setup as the default mail client. Am I still missing some setups?

Don't use SQL Mail. Use database mail which doesn't require Outlook as it uses SMTP directly.

MCTS (SQL 2005 / Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0: Configuration / Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007: Configuration)
MCITP Database Administrator (SQL 2005) / Database Developer (SQL 2005)

There's no setup in Microsoft Dynamics that we can change which mail service to use. Its defaulted to SQL Mail.

If you are using Lotus in your environment then why is outlook running locally. SQL Server 2005 does not require this and will probably cause problems. I would recommend removing the entries for outlook and not using that service.

In the mail setup create a profile and then you need an account that has access to the smtp server. Enter the required information and then the name of your domino server.

You said you're getting an error but at what step you are getting that error is important. Can you provide those details?
