I'm doing my best to work with an Oracle database, despite not being an Oracle person!

Is SQL Loader (sqlldr.exe) an installation option when installing the 9i client software?

Basically, I have a PC with 9i client installed, and am using it to "talk" to a 9i database (different server) via sqlplus and a .Net application.

One of my tasks is to get a large volume of data into the Oracle database (bearing in mind this client is my only point of contact with the database). I'd thought of using sqlldr but it doesn't appear to be installed with the 9i client. Is this an DB server app only? or can it be installed on a client?

Thanks,

Greg.

Hi Greg, as far a I'm aware it's a server component only. That said, I rarely work with Windows-based Oracle so I may be completely wrong!!

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Hi,
It should be in the <OracleHome>/bin directory..

I know it is installed in the 10G client ( and am pretty sure with older ones as well..) did you use Full or Custom install with your client?

Thanks all. I've found a few more threads on it and it looks like is installed with the client if the option is chosen. I'm trying to get the relevant people to install it now.

Greg.
