SQL Join Type in Visual Linking expert is greyed out

I linked tables in Crystal report using visual linking expert and checked the join type, SQL Join type
is greyed out for some tables and not for others,
so I can't select the join I want to use when it is greyed out.What causes this and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Are your tables from different databases? This will cause you to be unable to do any type of join other than an equal join on a single field.

Try posting technical information as well, such as Crystal version and database(s) used.

This is version dependent, but rhinok likely nailed the culprit.
