Hi,

I need to install a SQL Server 2000 on a Windows server 2003. However, should I install the SQL server directlly on the WS server or should i install it on a VMWare on the server?

Regards.

André

Hmmm. I must be lost by your quetion. Is Server 2003 loaded as a VM? Or, are you using server 2003 as a vm host? Depending on what you want the SQL server to do, and how you plan to utilize SQL, will depend on where you put it. If you have Server 2003 loaded on a vm, you can put SQL on the vm, if you have Server 2003 acting as the vm host, then you can have SQL loaded on the vm host. If you want the SQL server to interact with all the vm's you have loaded, then you still can have SQL loaded on a vm, you just need to configure each vm to talk with the vm with SQL, however, the VM with SQL will need to be running at all times, so the data you are adding/manipulating will then be added/manipulated. You can have SQL on the vm host, in which case as long as SQL is started automatically, then the data added/manipulated will be added/manipulated.

I know, this post was pretty confusing, but so was your question.
