When I view my report with the ActiveX Viewer on the PC i designed the report on, it works fine. However, when I try running it on another computer, I get SQL server violation error. The report uses ODBC data, but not SQL. When I checked the crystal site for patches they told me the problem was fixed in the latest release of CR 8. I installed that version, and resaved all the reports, but i am still getting the error when I try to run it on other workstations. Does anyone know anything about this error? Please Help!

malk: I think your problem may bee logon problems with your data source. Suggest you check your code includes a LogoffServer call before you LogonServer or SetLogonInfo to 'force' a re-connection David C. Monks

Where do I put that code? I have no logon server now, it is just a CSV file declared as ODBC

i have a menu of reports. When you click on the report you want it runs thst report. with the ActiveX viewer.

malk: How is the menu produced? Is this a VB app which gives you the menu in the first place? David C. Monks

Have you confirmed that the DSN is configured correctly on the other PC to read the CSV file? Ken Hamady

How can I set that up? Should it not be part of the setup? If it is not, how do I do it manually?

I am not sure what setup you are referring to.

It appears that you have a VB application launching the report. Did you write the application yourself? How is the text file created? Who setup the ODBC DSN on the original PC?

DSN's are created in the ODBC Administrator, which is in the Control Panel.

The CSV file is creaed through my DOS program. The ODBC was created by me in CR8, and the VB app was also created by me in VB6.

It sounds like you expected the VB App setup to automatically create the necessary DSN? I think that is the mistake. If you open up the ODBC Adminstrator on the target PC I think you will find that the DSN is missing. To create it you would have to do what you did when you created the DSN on your PC. You don't need CR to do that, you can do it in the ODBC Admin. You can also have your applicatin installation do it, but I couldn't tell you how. Ken Hamady
