If I have a DTS package that transfers data from one server to another using the Import/Export transfer, is this encrytped or is it a clear text transfer?

it would not by default be encrypted

Questions about posting. See faq183-874

You would need to tell the SQL Server to force encryption for all connections.

Are you trying to encrypt the data while it is being transmitted across the network or when it is saved in the database?

When it is being transported? How do you tell SQL server to do this?
