I just downloaded the oracle sql developer. Windows installation seems straight forward enough. You just unzip it into a directory and double click on it. Unfortunately when i do that nothing happens. I also tried starting it from a cmd window to see if there were any messages to indicate what's going on, but nothing happens. There dont seem to be any log files or anything to indicate why its not working. Nothing flashes across the screen to indicate than anything at all is happening, nothing seems to happen at all. Anyone have any idea what's not happening?

thanks

Hi, bookouri

The first thing I would check is to see if you have the correct version of Java installed.

The second is to make sure you have at least Oracle 9.2 installed.

We have just rolled back installation of v1.1.17.59 to an earlier version v1.0.0.14.67.
The main reason is that it takes forever (= many, many seconds) to get a display of a list of objects in connections panel whereas this takes a fraction of a second in the older version.
There seem to be some minor bugs as well with regard to the GUI.

When it didnt work the first thing i did was download and install/re-install java, but that didnt seem to make any difference.

ill take a look back at oracle and see if i can find the older version, maybe ill have better luck with that..
