SQL Database size limit?

I'm a begginer with SQL & was just wondering if there is a limit in the size of a SQL database as my company is considering merging quite a few databases into one centralised database which would make it very large??

The free version of sql is limited to 4 gigs. All other versions have no limits.

This is for SQL2005. I believe the database limits have not changed for sql 2008.
