Hello,
I'm a newbie to this, but we were provided with a .BAK format database (from SQL).

How do we convert this back to SQL format (we don't have SQL)? Do you need an SQL software (and where do we get it)

Thanks for any tips.

You may get more accurate answers in the SQL Server forum.

Hope This Helps, PH.

Yes, you'll need the SQL Server software to get this data.

You can purchase it online from shop.microsoft.com, amazon.com, etc. It is not cheep. If you are feeling more adventours you can download the free version of SQL Server from Microsoft. The problem is that it doesn't come with the user interface. You have to know the command line commands to restore the file, and view the data in a command prompt.

Your best bet would probably be to request that the person that sent you the backup file, export the data that you need and send that to you in an excel file or a text file.
