At work they use Oracle 9i & 10g databases. I use Crystal Reports XI but everyone else writes reports in PL\SQL. They do not know CR very well and I do not know SQL very well. I want to close the gap.

What exactly I am shooting for; I am not trying to connect home with work in any way. I only want to be able to practice at home using similar type PL\SQL and Oracle 10g.

I am using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 at home.
Is there a online data base that I can connect to to practice at home?

Thanks

Clay

Dausa,

I suggest you download oracle 10 or 11g and install it locally at home. there is no licence fee for personal use, and you could practice knowing that if you do cause havoc, you can just destroy your database and rebuild another one.

SQL Developer is a good tool. You might also consider the free version of TOAD.

Take the db scripts used to make your work database home on a USB stick, and then run those scripts into your home db. That way your practice sessions would be very close to the real thing.

Hi,
That is $460.00 ( I hit a comma by mistake not a decimal - In Europe I think they do that normally).

A great database for practice is Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, and it's absolutely FREE!

Hi,
Great catch, that was the one I was thinking of when I found the Personal Edition listing...

Possibly in continental Europe, but not in the UK, Turkbear.

I want to be good, is that not enough?

Hi,
I always thought the UK was not part of Europe [wink]
