SQL database backups not being cleaned up

Hi all

I am using SQL 2000 (so this isnt the 2005 clean up bug). I have my backup job set to keep backups for 3 days, yet for some reason up to 5 are being kept on disk.

Any ideas where to start looking?

Some times this just happens. I found I had to drop the maintenance plan and recreate it.
