Hi,

I'm attempting to port reports generated to run on a M/S Access database to a SQL Server 7.0.

I am currently having to use a ODBC data source that I've created becuase the SQL Server 7.0 source throws up the error message "General SQL Server error : Check Messages from the SQL server."

According to my manual there are some fundamental difference between how ODBC and the SQL connection work and it may explain why I'm getting some errors in my report.

I need to test connectivity to the SQL Server using the native connection. I can enter the server name and account details and even select the server I wish to connect to, but the minute I press OK on that dialog I get the above error message.

Help Anyone?

In reply to myself and to anyone who needs help in this area, the issue is that Crystal does not accept a database name starting with a number or that contains a -.

The only ways around it is to use a ODBC data source OR rename your database.
