I'm trying out the practicality of SQL commands because requesting custom views from our IT dept sometimes takes way too long. So far the SQL commands work and do what I want but are slower than comparable views. Are there any settings that I need to be aware of or tips for tuning reports that rely on commands? Thanks for any advice

A couple of suggestions:

Use only one command as your datasource--don't create multiple commands and link them, as the linking will occur locally.

Make sure you build all selection criteria into the command itself.

Create parameters used for selection within the command (unless you are only using them in a group selection formula or for conditional display of some object in the report).
