Hi,
On a newly installed SQL 2008 Standard system with SP1 running on Windows Server (x64) 2008 R2, all works OK on the server, but I am unable to connect to the database from client machines.
I suspect that it is because the SQL Browser Service does not start.
It fails to start and the event log has the message "The sqlbrowser service port is unavailable for listening, or invalid"
As a result of searching the internet for possible solutions I have run netstat, but port 1434 does not seem to be in use by another process.
If anyone can give me some advice I would be very grateful.
Thanks
