SQL Backup

When I try to backup my SQL 2000 DB, I get the following error in my DBASQL log and traces...
"Failed to initialize Windows Component Object Model (COM), EC=-1"

I tried re-registering SQLVDI.dll, still no luck.
I played with all the ODBC Values and Security. Still no luck. Any help is appreciated.

2-what uis the version of Arcserve?
3-any patches applied
4-SQL version? IS it local or remot?
