Hi guys,

Recently, I had to do a SQL restore on a file that contained a BKU extension. In my experience, SQL backups have always been .bak files.

Does it really matter on the extension, or could this cause problems using a BKU extension? Thanks in advance.

Extension won't matter to SQL Server. It is good to follow convention or know the other person's standard. We use a third party backup product that utilizes a different extension. This has not been a problem.
