SQL and AS400

Anyone know how to link data between the AS400 and SQL Server other than ODBC? I've done linked servers within SQL but am not pleased with performance. Seems like getting information on this subject is like striking gold. Can anyone help me hit the motherlode?

Hello tman24m ,

What are you using for ODBC now? I work with both Client Access Express and StarSql and performance is quite acceptable. Of course these are both ODBC connections, but since AS400 and SQL server have little in common I would be surprised you can get anything off-the-shelve.

We run an application on SQL server that retrieves it's data every period through FTP from AS400. The FTPcall is done from the SQL server (Vendor of the apllication made it) T. Blom
