Hello...

I inherited an Arcserve for NT v6.61 with an SQL agent and Exchange agent. When I first saw the servers, Neither the Exchange agent nor the SQL agent were login in properly and therefore the backup was failing.

Using information on the CA web site, I fixed the Exchange agent... but I can't find any info on the SQL agent.

Does anybody know what the procedure is to help the SQL agent log in? It is using the administrator account, which has system administrator acess to the SQL server and has acess to all databases.

Also, the SQL server is on a separate server than the backup drive.

Thanks

When submitting the job, you should have to enter the security (ie ID./password) for each section of the job (ie drive letter, server connection, SQL server, Exchange). Make sure that you set the security for SQL server to a Microsoft SQL server account, not an NT account. They may be the same thing and that's fine, but you need to have an entry in the security for SQL.

Also remember to browse into the drive holding the SQL data and unselect the DriveLetter\MSSQL\Data directory. If you don't you'll get errors in the job. ArcServe will get the SQL databases using the SQL Agent, but will try to get the same data again using NT Agent and the NT Agent will fail.

I've got some experience with SQL and ArcServe, so contact me if you would like.
