Something that bugs me about setting up a standard SQL 2005 server Agent job is alerts.

What is the difference between adding an alert via the job setup or adding the alert outside of a job?
There is no special benefit in setting the job->alert realtionship up is there? Yet the relationship exists because you can only see alerts added via the job in the list attached to the job.

Dazed and confused

If I remember correctly alerts can trigger a job when the alert files (it's been a while since I've looked at the alerts). Several alerts can therefor fire a single job.
