In the backup log I'm getting this:

E8602 failed to read database...

with EC=Backup Agent Error - (83) "Remote pipe open failed: time-out"

When I look at the log file for the backup agent I see this:

dbasql@MSSQLSERVER: 6/4/2002 2:59:43.47 [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'database'.
dbasql@MSSQLSERVER: 6/4/2002 3:1:44.922 Remote pipe open failed: time-out

Any ideas? Is there a problem with my ODBC driver or something? I really can't figure this thing out and I need to be able to backup my database... any help would be much appreciated.

Go into your SQL Enterprise Manager. Left click on one of your databases that is giving you the error. Choose the Options tab and look at the Database Compatibility level. We upgraded to 8, some of our databases stayed at the 65 compatibility level. Each of the 65's gave me the invalid keyword error on the agent log.

The good news is you can easily change it to 80. However, one of our apps stopped working. So, Arcserve still isn't backing up all of our databases. And it seemed that when it hit a 65 one, they all failed. I unchecked the lot that are 65 and the rest are backing up fine.

Good luck,
Debi
