Hello everyone

We moved our sql 7 databases from an old NT machine to a newer Windows 2000 machine. What we did was install sql 7 on the windows 2000 machine and then export all data from the old server to the new server.

The export and everything went fine but the new server is running very slow! A query processed on the old server ran 5 sec, on the new server 30 sec...

What could be the cause?

Thanx in advance

Greetz

You may need to recreate indexes (use DBCC REINDEX) and/or UPDATE STATISTICS.

Also, you'll need to repopulate full-text catalogs.

How does the hardware compare on the new machine? Have you got enough RAM/processor power? What about disk configuration?

All these may have an impact on performance.

Hello

Thanks for your fast reply!!

I deleted all my indexes and made new ones and that worked like a charm!
