I have a table with several text fields using the text data type. My form was working properly for a long time when users where only storing a few hundred characters in each field. Now they have started to save longer descriptions and it now causes my form and sometimes the ADP to crash.

Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to remedie the problem?

Hello Denis,
check your table def and see if your using "nvarchar" (4000chr) if so this is one problem. You need to use "ntext"(2^30 more that 1mil.chr)
This should help you out.
Have a nice weekend

Hi Mark,
The data type is "text". I have already suggested converting the data type to varchar(4000), which would be more than enough space, to my DBA, but she is apprehensive since this is a very important database already in use by many users.
I am converting the data to varchar when displaying on reports, but what I am wondering is why it causes the project to crash.
Another thing I noticed was that it only crashes on our 98 systems and not 2000. Does anyone know if this may have to do with different MDAC versions?
Thanks
Denis
