I had a few questins:

what happens if database exeeds 2 gigs on sql server 7 msde?
(is there a 2 gig limit on sql server 7 pe? and would msde upgrade to pe ? )

Is there a way to upgrade from sql 7 msde to sql server 2k developer? (on a 2k pro machine) After upgrade can the clients still connect or dev edition has limit on number of clients that can connect?

Database files do not have anything to do with Database Server software and licensing.

So if you change your software to be the fully licensed SQL Server you just need to attach the databases to it, and they will work without any of the limits of the MSDE or PE editions.

So create a backup of your databases, install the new version of the software and then attach / convert the databases to the new format (if you upgrade from 7 to 2k you need to do it), but all this is well documented on more specifically on the SQL Server sections.

And you should note use a DEV edition for production purposes. A correct license should be used.
