Hello,

I am running SQL 7 on NT 4.0. When I reboot the server, MSSQLserver does restart. I have the check box to tell it to start automatically when the Server reboots. When I go to services and try to start it from there using the local system account, it comes back with an error with something to do with NT. I can start it manually using my domain account and password as I am the administrator. So as long as I don't reboot the server, SQL runs fine. It will restart automatically if I leave my user ID and password to start it but it will not start if ask it to use the system account.

I have checked all local accounts on the server and none are locked or expired. My SA account is fine as well.

Can anyone please help me?

What is the exact error message when you attempt to manually start the service using the correct account? "an error with something to do with NT" is not very descriptive or helpful.

Does the server event log contain any helpful information?

If you want to get the best answer for your question read faq183-874 and faq183-3179.
