We used 2 different servers, one had 7.0 loaded and the other had 2000. Copied the databases from the 7.0 version to 2000 using the DTS utility. We did not get any errors during the process. But when we open up the databases through SQL tools some tables are completely empty. Possible alos that some tables were missing lines but I can't be sure at this point. At least one or two tables from each database were empty. I checked BOL but did not see any KBA's about problems. Anyone have this experience? Should we have done it differently?

Thanks in advance,
Sunny

You can bcp all the data out from the source database and bcp it into the destination.

You can create the bcp statements from a query and copy them into a .bat file to run it.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.

thanks Nigel.

So I should not have any problems using the bcp utility from 7.0 to 2000?

I would have thought the DTS might just be a GUI for the bcp- but I guess you are saying they are different? Is bcp more stable? We will sure try it that way next time.

Thanks,
Sunny
