I know I can take a database from SQL 2008 R2 and attach it to a SQL 2016 server. Assuming I do not change the database compatibility level from 100-SQL 2008, can I go backwards and attach a database that has been running on SQL 2016?

Keep in mind that the database was created on SQL 2008 R2, I just need to attach it to my SQL 2016 server, run a bunch of queries to clean up some data, and re-attach it back to SQL 2008 R2. Is this doable?
