For an existing SQL 2008 server with local storage, is there any way to create a 2 node cluster as we have ordered a storage array for the shared drives. Problem is that we failed to order the physical array due to miscommunication and thus we have 2 physical servers with local storage and our Dev guys were wondering if we get one of the servers up and running immediately with SQL 2008 installed, can we come back and cluster once the disk array has been installed? My guess is no considering during the SQL 2008 setup, you specify whether the instance is standalone, etc. so I'm guessing a complete reinstall and then perhaps attaching the dbs from backup?

Thanks in advance.

No you can't convert a server from a standalone SQL install.

What you can do is when the array arrives, setup the machine which isn't doing anything as a standalone cluster. Then move the database to the cluster. You can then uninstall SQL from the standalone server, and install SQL as the second node of the cluster.
