I have a vendor installed 32 bit version of MS SQL 2005 Standard which was licensed for both CPUs in the system. The OS is 2003 server standard 64 bit. I have asked my vendor for the media to install the 64 bit version as they only provided me with 32 bit installation media. They are telling me that the licensing is different and I cannot move to the 64bit version without repurchasing the software. I think they are wrong but cannot find any documentation on the microsoft website to support. Does anyone know of a link I can find to support what I beleive is cross platform licensing on the server side and therefore should require no addtional cost other than maybe the media cost?

Thnak you in advance for any help.

When you buy a license for SQL Server you can install any build x86, x64 or Itanium. There are different SKUs for each, but they all give you the right to install any build.

In other words they are full of it and want to sell you a new license for no reason.
