I've got a new sql 2005 sp2 box going on windows server 2008. for some reason, no other sql server can see this one. Sometimes the server name itself will show up on the servers while doing a browse for other sql boxes, but never the instances installed on there.

I've set the Local and Remote connections to be allowed. I'm guessing is some version deal that requires a patch, but I can't find anything on it. Anyone here know if it's a 2008 thing that I'm missing.. ??

The Windows firewall is probably blocking access to the SQL Browser. Make sure that UDP port 1434 is open to the server.
