2 caveats:
1. I am not a server or sql guy, I'm a network engineer
2. I inherited this sql server.
the question is such. I've found a maintenance plan, it set up to run monday through friday at 7:00 pm. I've found the location where the .bak file is supposed to be stored. all looks good as far as I can tell.
I browse to the backup location and find a .bak file that is several months old. I've looked through the event logs as well as the sql logs and cannot find anything that indicates the maint. plan backup is actually running or failing.
Lastly, I can manually execute the maint. plan and it runs a backup just fine.
is there anything obvious that needs to be checked to make sure its enabled and running according to schedule?
