Morning
Does anyone have any experience of comparing Applix TM1 product to the SQL2005 offering ? We currently run TM1 but are being squeezed by our data volumes into 64bit and I am wondering if SQL2005 might be a more long term cost effective route.

We have some reasonably complex financial phasing cubes and merchandise planning cubes. I suspect it would be "job suicide" to move off TM1 but equally I want to be fully informed before signing up to Applix 64bit.

SQL 2005 Analysis services is a very different beast than AS2K. All of the AS2K limitations are gone. The actual structure and contents of cubes have changed a great deal as well. I spoke with the Applix group about 5 years and it seemed like they had a good product.

I don't see with all of the additions to SSAS why you wouldn't be able to replicate and more than likely enhance your cubes. SSAS offers a number of items to make the structure of a cube less complex while at the same increasing the cube offerings.

As for scalability and volume you may want to read the Project Real documentation which is based upon the Barnes and Noble BI solution.
