SQL 2000 Replication question

Hi all,

We have an application that requires an upgrade for the Daylight Savings changes. This application uses sql 2000 and transactional replication. Part of the upgrade says to disable the publisher and subscriber prior to the application upgrade. The question is if I disable both the publisher and subscriber will I need to rebuild replication entirely or can I just click the check boxes to set the publisher and subscriber once the upgrade is complete? I read that to disable them you just click the check boxes but, wasn't too sure if all the configuration remains or is removed and unfortunately our test environment for this application does not include replication (only 1 db not 2). Any help would be appreciated! (our shop doesn't use much replication so none of us have actually had to disable these before)
